Frankfurt Overcomes Bochum in Delay
Incident at Bochum Arena
On Sunday, Eintracht Frankfurt was set to face Bochum, but the match experienced a significant delay before kickoff. This was due to banners displayed by Frankfurt supporters that obstructed emergency exits, raising safety concerns.
Warning Issued
Stadium officials promptly issued warnings, urging fans to clear all exits, especially emergency routes. Despite these requests, the banners remained, resulting in the game’s postponement.
Continued Delay
As time passed with the kickoff delayed by over twenty minutes, another announcement was made highlighting the importance of fan cooperation for the match to begin. Frustrations among supporters grew, as they expressed their dissatisfaction with the unfolding situation.
Support from Officials
In efforts to resolve the issue, Markus Krösche, the sports director for Frankfurt, engaged with fans in the stands, urging them to remove the disruptive banners. This incident echoed a similar occurrence from the previous season when a match was also halted due to safety concerns involving banners.
Match Resumption
After approximately 50 minutes, the match finally commenced around 4:20 PM after the banners were taken down. Frankfurt went on to secure a 3-1 victory, with Hugo Larsson participating but substituted at halftime.
