Tragedy Strikes, Yet Community Shines

In the wake of the heartbreaking deaths of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, their community finds strength in unity. The brothers’ shocking cycling accident has catalyzed waves of support for the grieving Gaudreau family. As a symbol of hope amidst sorrow, a double rainbow graced the skies, reflecting the family’s resilient spirit.

Overwhelming Support at Tribute Event

Organized by their mother, Jane Gaudreau, the inaugural Gaudreau Family 5K Walk/Run gathered a tremendous turnout at Washington Lake Park. Forced indoors briefly by a tornado watch, participants persisted in the event’s mission—honoring Johnny and Matthew’s legacy.

Drawing in over 1,100 people in-person and 1,300 virtually, support hailed from households across North America. Esteemed NHL attendees, including Brady Tkachuk, echoed praise for the event, spotlighting the community’s treasured bonds cultivated by the Gaudreaus.

Funding A Lasting Tribute

Dedicating proceeds towards constructing a playground at Archbishop Damiano School, the event transforms tragedy into a cause aiming to enrich children’s lives. Initiatives by the Gaudreau family keep the brothers’ altruistic spirit alive, honoring a foundational connection to their grandmother’s enduring service.

Family friend Deb Vasutoro, a driving force behind the 5K event, affirmed the community’s commitment to fulfilling this aspiration in the brothers’ honor.

Legacy of Connection and Reverence

Participants donned apparel celebrating the Gaudreau brothers, whose lives impacted communities from arenas afar. Emphasizing a shared love, Guy Gaudreau emotionally addressed attendees, “The support we feel here today is overwhelming. Your presence here honors their cherished memory.”

The event aspires to transcend regions, turning into an annual commemoration, further embedding Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau’s legacy within hearts across the nation.
