Officials have announced the Madring, a newly designed circuit intended to host the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix starting in 2026. This venue will replace the longstanding Barcelona circuit, underscoring a commitment to deliver thrilling racing in Madrid for the foreseeable future.

Track Design and Features

The Madring circuit spans approximately 5.4 kilometers and features 22 turns, presenting drivers with a variety of challenging sections. A notable inclusion is the steeply banked corner, referred to as La Monumental, which boasts a 24% incline, allowing vehicles to maintain high speeds, similar to circuits like Zandvoort. The design also emphasizes technical difficulty with complex sequences at Turns 5 and 6.

Location and Layout

Situated around the IFEMA exhibition center, the Madring is designed as a semi-permanent venue that integrates into Madrid’s urban environment. The layout connects public streets with the IFEMA grounds, which enhances accessibility and engagement with the city.

Construction for the Madring is set to commence soon, with completion anticipated by September 2026. Once inaugurated, it aims to provide an exciting Formula 1 racing experience within a vibrant cityscape.
