Howe Returns to Newcastle Management
Return to Management
Eddie Howe has taken up his role once again as the manager of Newcastle United after a health scare involving pneumonia. The 47-year-old was hospitalized earlier this month and missed three matches before his official return was communicated on Thursday, just in time for critical fixtures as the Premier League season approaches its conclusion.
Health Status
Howe commented on his well-being, describing it as “OK” but admitted that he is still “not 100%” physically. He shared insights into the emotional journey he experienced throughout his recovery, stating, “I’ve been through a range of emotions, but I feel like I’m on the road to recovery. I’m not fully fit yet, but I believe I’m close to being fully focused mentally, which is what matters most right now.”
Impact on the Team
During his absence, assistant coach Jason Tindall, along with Graeme Jones, led the team, achieving two victories and one defeat. Howe expressed his complete confidence in his staff during this period, explaining, “I made a conscious decision to give Jason and all the coaches full responsibility because I couldn’t contribute. I told Jason right at the beginning, ‘It’s over to you.'”
Reflection on Health
Howe reflected on his health-related challenges, emphasizing the importance of appreciating one’s health. He remarked, “You take your health for granted—I certainly have—and when normalcy is taken away, it can be quite daunting.” As the team prepares for an upcoming match against Ipswich, Howe is enthusiastic about resuming his managerial role.
