In a move signaling confidence in his talent, the Colorado Avalanche have extended forward Brock Nelson’s contract by three years for a significant $22.5 million, underlining their determination to keep him on the ice until the end of the 2027-28 season.

Nelson’s Performance Boosts Confidence

Acquired from the New York Islanders, 33-year-old Brock Nelson made his mark by scoring 26 goals and earning 56 points across 80 regular-season games. While the Avalanche’s playoff run was cut short by the Dallas Stars in the first round, Nelson still managed to contribute four crucial assists.

Contractual Impact

Nelson’s previous contract of $36 million across six years had set an annual benchmark of $6 million. This latest lucrative extension reflects his undeniable value, positioning him as a key player in the competitive free agent market.

Illustrious NHL Career

Drafted 30th overall by the New York Islanders in 2010, Nelson has since amassed 301 goals and 587 points in 920 NHL games. Off the rink, he has proudly represented the U.S. in five international tournaments, earning a bronze medal at the 2015 World Championship.
